Class sizes

We like to keep our classes small so that every student gets the attention they need. Class sizes will vary between 6-10 students depending on the type of workshop. We offer a limited amount of private sessions each month, please email us if you prefer 1-on-1 lessons.

Do I need a sewing machine?

We have Bernette b38, Bernina 325 sewing machines, and Bernina L450 overlockers in our studio that we teach on, so there is no need to lug yours to class. If you have any questions about your machine, we will gladly point you towards the right resources to get you sewing on your own machine.

Can I sew a different project in class?

All our classes are structured, timed, and designed to teach you the necessary foundation and techniques for each skill level. It is not possible to bring your own project or to choose another option outside of the class listing. Please keep this in mind when you are registering for a class with us, no exceptions will be made and no refunds will be offered if you disagree with the class project you signed up for.

Can children attend workshops?

Most definitely! Minimum age is 9 and currently we have programs for kids 9-13. We are also working on developing projects for parents and children who want to learn how to sew together.

Can I drink and snack in the studio?

Only closed water bottles are allowed near workstations. If you must put something in your stomach during class, please eat in the kitchen away from the workroom.

What time should I arrive for class?

We are a working studio so studio doors open 10 minutes before class.

Traffic sucks today! Sorry but I am running late!

Please give us a call  at 780-429-0069 if you are running late so we can inform the teacher. If you are going to be more than 10 minutes late, this will likely be disruptive to everyone else in attendance and you will not be able to join the class.

Payment methods

We accept all methods of payments online and only credit cards in the studio.

Do you offer shipping on products?

Unfortunately at this time we do not offer shipping. All products are local pick-up only.

Missed Classes

Adult Classes: If you are unable to attend, please let us know via email or by phone. We will try our best to accommodate any missed classes as long as there is room in a future session. It will be your responsibility to send us an email inquiring about dates that would work for you.

Kids Classes: Unfortunately we are unable to accommodate any missed classes due to any reason unless there is room in another kids sew session. The kids programming runs on a different scheduling structure, making it difficult to reschedule any missed classes.

Minimum number of registrants

We only run workshops that have 60% registration. In the event of low enrolment, the class will be rescheduled and we aim to give you at least 48 hour notice.

Can I teach classes using your patterns?

We absolutely encourage the use of our patterns in classes! The only requirement we have is that each student has their own copy. You can ask each student to buy their own individually prior to starting the class.

For digital House of Sew patterns, each student should purchase their own through our online shop

We do not offer wholesale terms or bulk discounts for classes at this time.

Can I sell garments made from The House of Sew patterns?

No. We do not currently license our designs for commercial production.
