Dressmaking sizes are based on our body measurements and is very different from the standard clothing store size. Whilst you may normally be a size 6 in a store, your measurements could mean that you are a size 8 in our patterns. Because of this, it is really important to take your measurements and compare them to our size chart (below) before choosing a pattern size. Our sizing is separated by female and male body type.

If you find your measurements are in between sizings, follow your hip measurement to ensure fit around the widest part of your body. If it is a relax fit or oversized garment, go with your waist measurement.

If you find your measurements are not displayed, for example 31″ waist 37″ hips, you would fit a unisex S/38.

Expanding our size range

We apologise if our current size chart excludes you. We will be working on expanding our size range next year (2023). If you require a pattern for a class you are taking with us, please get in touch to discuss your requirements so we can best serve you.
