Update: January 10, 2021

We received an exemption and the okay to operate by Alberta Health Operations. AHO guidelines are that students must be properly distanced and masked at all time. There is no mingling or socializing before or after class. Mandatory face covering is a must, we will not be making any accommodations to those who cannot or chose not to wear one. If you do not have a mask to wear in the building, you will not be able to participate and a refund will not be offered to you. Please do not register for a class if you do not agree to these terms. The health of our employees, students, and vulnerable people is our number one priority.

Studio guidelines for everyone to follow to keep us all safe!
  • Please do not arrive no more than 10 minutes early.
  • Hand sanitizer near the door for when you arrive as well as one at both cutting tables. Best practice still is to wash with soap and water!
  • All machines and shared surfaces will be wiped down at the end of every class.
  • Please do not attend if you are not feeling well. Let’s stay safe so we can start building a better norm!

Class sizes are still at a maximum of 6 people per session. We urge that you do not come to class if you are positive with covid or experiencing any symptoms. We will work with you to reschedule your class for a future date with no penalty.

As always, THANK YOU!

We appreciate your ongoing support during these difficult times. Xx

Update: November 30, 2020

Due to the new provincial restrictions imposed on our operation, we are yet again forced to temporarily cease and postpone all group classes until further notice. We will be starting online classes within the next couple weeks. This will allow us to continue teaching while operating under these restrictions. Students will be offered scheduled dates and times for class package pick ups before your session date.

Any questions or concerned can be emailed to us hello@houseofsew.com

Again, we appreciate your patience, understanding, and ongoing support during these times of uncertainty. Xx

Update: August 3, 2020

Effective August 1, 2020. the city of Edmonton has introduced the temporary mandatory face covering bylaw 19408 which requires mandatory masks or face covering in all indoor public places and public vechicles. All students attending classes at The House of Sew must now enter the building with a mask or face covering until further notice.

We have a limited amount of disposable mask covering but our business is not able to (not required) to provide masks to every student and customer. We ask that anyone entering our premise to provide their own face covering and put it on before entering.

For more information on Bylaw 19408

Thank You!

We appreciate your patience, cooperation, and ongoing support during these difficult times.

Update: May 20, 2020

Studio guidelines for everyone to follow to keep us all safe!
  • Hand sanitizer at the door for when you arrive as well as one at every work station. Best practice still is to wash with soap and water!
  • There will be taped areas around the large cutting tables to ensure we all have enough space between us to feel comfortable.
  • All machines and shared surfaces will be wiped down at the end of every class.
  • Please do not attend if you are not feeling well. Let’s stay safe so we can start building a better norm!

For students who had classes interrupted by covid-19:

To minimize further financial impacts, we are offering everyone up to 6-months to reschedule your affected sessions.

If you are registered in a class or workshop that does not run on a monthly basis, you have up to 1-year to reschedule.

Rescheduling is easy. Have a look at our calendar and shoot us an email hello@houseofsew.com with your chosen date. Class schedules are generally 3-months out but we will be taking it month-to-month for this duration.

If you are registered in a class or workshop where you already attended 1 or 2 classes before lockdown, you will only be attending the final 1 or 2 classes missed. For example, Sewing 102 started on March 4 and ran for four consecutive Wednesday’s, students attended the first and second class, but missed the third and final class. In this circumstance, students will only need to reschedule for the final 2 classes. The June date for Sewing 102 starts June 11 and runs for four consecutive Thursday’s. Students will reschedule for the June 11 session but only attend the final 2 classes on June 25 and July 2.

Thank You!

We appreciate your patience and ongoing support during these difficult times and can’t wait to have you in the studio again! Xx
